Cupping is one of the primary modalities of Chinese Medicine.
Cupping is a very safe suction technique that uses glass or plastic cups to create a vacuum effect over specific area(s) of the body. Suction expands the blood vessels at the surface of the skin in order to effectively release the specific condition being treated. Therefore, it may result in temporary bruises where cups were applied. These bruises are not painful and will clear within a few days.
Chinese Cupping therapy is often used to increase circulation, reduce muscle tension and clear respiratory and gastrointestinal conditions. It increases the energy flow, breaks up scar tissue, relieves congestion, eliminates pain and aches, reduces fever, and detoxifies the body from medication, drugs and alcohol.
Cupping is also an effective method that can enhance the effectiveness of acupuncture for certain conditions.
